Sommelier Society of America Instructor Stuart Randall
Stuart Randall started off his career in the wine trade as a retail manager on Manhattan's upper east side. He has been a wine professional in New York for over twenty years. In 1984 he moved into wholesale, working both as a sales representative and buyer with several different import/distribution companies before forming his own company (1997). During this time, he created and maintained an award winning wine list at 'Locke Ober's restaurant in Boston.
Stuart's passion and enthusiasm for wine began in France where he spent two years of high school, living with a French family, attending local French schools and traveling. He spent a year studying at the University of Salzburg and then received his degree from the University of Vermont in 1980. His time spent abroad provided an excellent foundation for the world of wine. He now spends 3-4 weeks a years in France, visiting wine producers as well as making regular trips to wine producing regions in California, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany and New Zealand.
Stuart professionally evaluates numerous wines every day. He is an avid collector/consumer, participates in wine-tastings, dinners, events and seminars on a regular basis.
Stuart is currently president and founding partner of Bayfield Importing, Ltd, a wine importer/distributor based in New York City. He is also a member of the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastvin de Bourgogne.
