Sommelier Society of America Instructor Jean-Louis Carbonnier

Jean-Louis Carbonnier is the president of Carbonnier Communications, a marketing and communications consultancy in New York City devoted to wine and wine producers. His clients include Quintessa (Rutherford, CA), Vins Jean-Luc Colombo (Rhône, France), Jaillance Clairette de Die (Drôme, France), Domaine Louis-Philippe Bovard (Vaud, Switzerland), and Maison Rivière (Bordeaux, France).

Prior to establishing Carbonnier Communications, Carbonnier was the US representative and spokesperson of the Comité Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne for over ten years. He has built up a reputation as a leading Champagne expert in the United States. Carbonnier regularly conducts seminars and lectures on the subject, has written about “Reims, Crossroads of Champagne,” in Wines & Spirits magazine, serves as Champagne consultant to The Wine News, and was the technical editor of Champagne For Dummies by Ed McCarthy.

A devoted wine educator, Carbonnier is a member of the Society of Wine Educators. He has been involved from the start in the development of the Elizabeth Bishop Wine Center at Boston University and conducted informational interviews on wine for NYC’s MetroChannel in 2001.
