024: Martin Brothers Seeks Experienced Wine Store Manager

We are a fast paced, family-run wine and spirits store located on the Upper West Side for over thirty years and are currently seeking to fill a full-time manager position. We are seeking a professional, enthusiastic and team-oriented person with extensive knowledge of both wine and the wine industry. We are dedicated to providing excellent customer service and as such, the successful candidate must excel at recommending and selling wine, assisting customers both in person and over the phone, and continually learning about new wines. Our ideal candidate is someone seeking to invest in both their career and this store and will establish ownership over and take pride in their work. Wine certifications are desired but not required.

Must be able to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise our team of sales associates and support them in their daily tasks

  • Ensure a clean and welcoming store environment

  • Oversee wine shelves and displays, maintaining appropriate inventory levels, presentations, and signage

  • Prepare weekly buy sheets and assist the General Manager in buying

  • Communicate effectively with both the General Manager and sales associates

  • Review relevant store trends and report to the General Manager accordingly

  • Establish clear performance goals and objectives for the store and staff

  • Monitor, analyze and measure sales performance; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed sales goals/quotas and objectives

  • Other duties may be assigned by the General Manager

  • Manage periodic newsletter emails; ability to communicate offers and promotions/events in a clear and enticing manner

  • Plan and manage various events such as holiday tastings

  • Manage social media content (desirable)

Qualifications/skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to cultivate relationships with customers by understanding their wine preferences

·       Highly-motivated with an upbeat, positive, go-getter attitude

·       Thrives working in a fast-paced environment; proven ability to multitask

·       Extensive wine and spirits knowledge; able to speak comfortably and confidently about various varietals, major wine producing regions and to pair recommendations with food

·       Eager to continue growing your wine knowledge through tastings, courses, etc.

·       Current and up to date on industry trends and our ever-evolving inventory

·       Well organized and demonstrates excellent time management skills

·       Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·       Able to lift and carry a case of wine

·       Able to work nights, weekends, holidays and closing shifts

Preferred:

·       Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year university or equivalent experience

·       5 years of retail experience and management
