Course Basics
How long is the course?
๐ 21 weeks, meeting once a week for 2 hours.
Can I take a class in-person if I registered remote?
๐ Only with advance written approval.
Do I have to take the exam in person?
๐ Yes, there is no remote option for the final exam.
What is the study time commitment outside of class?
To get the most out of the Course, we recommend:
๐Reading the materials ahead of each class
๐Keeping up with weekly quizzes โ to reinforce key concepts.
๐Practicing tastings using the provided tasting grid โ Developing a structured approach is key.
๐Consistency is key: attending classes, being an active participant in discussions and tastings will make a huge difference in your learning experience.
Enrollment, Payments & Scholarships
How do I secure my seat in the course?
๐ Your seat is only confirmed once you submit the registration form with payment (either in full or via installment). We do not hold or reserve seats without payment.
How much is tuition?
๐ $3,250 (includes wines for in-person students).
Do you offer payment plans?
๐ Yes! Three installments of $1,083.
Are scholarships available?
๐ SSA does not currently offer scholarships.
Can I get a refund if I withdraw?
๐ No penalty refunds will be issued when requested in writing one month before the first class.
๐ No refunds are issued once classes begin - plan carefully!
Exam & Certification
Whatโs required to pass the exam?
๐ 80% to pass, 95% for distinction.
When is the final exam offered?
๐ Twice a year, in-person only.
Am I a certificated sommelier if I pass the exam?
๐ Yes! Youโll receive a Sommelier Certificate diploma and pin. Which means that you are a certified Sommelier (certified by the SSA).
