Registration Policy


 

Payment Options:

  • Full Payment: Pay the entire course fee of $3,250 at the time of registration.

  • Subscription Payment: Pay in three monthly installments of $1,082. Full payment must be made before the start of class.

    • Subscription payments are processed via Stripe. Ensure your card information is current.

    • If a payment fails, a second attempt will be made five days later. After two failed attempts, the subscription will be canceled, and you will lose your seat unless re-registered.

    • If cancelation is requested prior to the start of classes, a refund for payments already made will be issued in the event of cancellation, and your seat will be offered to the waitlist.

Final Exam Policy:

  • Applies to the Sommelier Certificate Course.

  • The final exam includes a written component, fill-in and multiple choice questions, and blind tasting, held in person at La Maison in Midtown Manhattan.

  • Retake Policy: The exam is offered twice a year at the end of each session. The fee to retake the exam is $150.

  • Currently, there is no remote option for the final exam.

Absences:

  • We advise students not to miss more than three classes. More than three absences may leave the student unprepared for the final exam.

Diploma and Certification:

  • To receive your Sommelier Society of America Certification Diploma, a minimum score of 80% is required.

  • Students scoring 95% or higher receive a diploma and pin with distinction.

Make-Up Classes:

  • Make-up classes may be taken with written approval, provided there is space available. Make-up classes must be completed in the following session.

  • Students may not retake more than three classes without prior written approval from the administration.

  • To retake the entire course, re-application and full tuition payment are required. 

Recording Devices and Media:

  • Recording devices are not permitted during classes.

  • Photos may be taken for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed, notify the SSA by email before the course begins.

Dress Code:

  • Business casual attire is recommended.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

  • Certificate Course: No refunds will be issued once classes begin.

    • Full refunds can be requested up to one month before the start of the course with no penalty.

    • Subscriptions cannot be cancelled once classes begin, and must be paid in full prior to the start of class – Please plan carefully.

    • Seat confirmations are non-transferable.

 Audit One Class: Cancellations for "Audit One Class" must be requested in writing 24 hours before the class begins. If not canceled in time, the fee may be applied to another single class within the same session.
